The annual Canadian Melanoma Conference is Canada’s flagship meeting on the research and treatment of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. It brings together medical oncologists, surgeons, dermatologists, radiotherapists, pathologists, immunologists, molecular biologists and industry partners to review the latest research and explore new therapies. This conference will be held in a virtual format for 2022.
A Viking’s Challenge 2nd Edition ended yesterday and we couldn’t be more happy with how the weekend unfolded.
In total, 64 people participated, running a combined total of 855 km, or the equivalent of 28.5 crossings of Lake Winnipeg. Though COVID-19 made it impossible for Chris Isfeld and Shawn Bjornsson, the co-founders of the challenge, to run together on the lake this year, they were united in spirit, along with the 62 other participants across Canada, by the knowledge that they were helping bring awareness to an important issue. Together, they helped raise almost $9,000 this year. And donations are still coming in!

THE WEEKEND IN PICTURES
What: On September 25-26th, Save Your Skin Foundation will be hosting its 3rd annual Move for Melanoma activity challenge across Canada to raise funds for melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancer and ocular melanoma patients.
This September, join us from your living room, your yard, your neighbourhood park, or your favorite trail to move your body, connect with your teammates and celebrate survivors.
Why: Save Your Skin Foundation is the only organization in Canada that supports skin cancer patients financially when they need it most. All the money raised through your donations goes directly to patients in the form of cab fares, treatment costs, flights, accommodation and other necessary but costly expenses incurred while receiving treatment.
How: We’ve made it super easy for you to participate! To get started, sign up here. You can register as a Team Captain, as an individual or join an existing team. Once you’ve registered, we’ll email you some resources to help you recruit team members and encourage people to start donating to your team.
Then, on the weekend of Sept. 25-26, we’ll invite you to complete your chosen activity and join us for a celebratory virtual party on Sunday night.
Whether you’re a survivor who wants to bring hope to newly diagnosed patients, the family member or friend of a patient who wants to send a powerful message of solidarity to patients across Canada, or a patient who wants to help change the face of cancer for ever, we invite you to take a stance against melanoma and to move with us this September! Hand in hand, we fight melanoma together!
